Embracing My Inner Geek

Embracing My Inner Geek is a feature hosted by Queen of Contemporary and enables bloggers to geek out once a week and ramble on about geeky and nerdish things.
This is my first Embracing My Inner Geek blog post, which I am doing for the Queen of Contemporary blogoversary!

Today, I'm going to talk about a pretty nerdish hobby of mine, and that is...drawing. It might not seem geeky to you, but I know a lot of people who think it is and who tell me that frequently! I love drawing, especially realistic portraits. They never come out how I want them to, though! Here are some of my best drawings.

From L-R: Landscape in an Eye, Jessie J, Ariel, Devil Mermaid and danisnotonfire

To see more of my drawings, you can head to my Facebook page. I would have picked reading as my nerdish hobby, but I think most of you have already established that I enjoy reading...and if you hadn't guessed that already, well, I don't know what to say!

This blog post is in celebration of Lucy at Queen of Contemporary's blogoversary. Check out her blog and join in the celebrations!

    1. Thank you Zoe! Unfortunately the eye landscape wasn't my idea, but I agree it's a really clever concept. I'll have a look at your blog now!

  4. You're so talented, Amber! I really wish I could draw like you do! I think I'll stick to writing for now because if I tried to draw like you do then I think it would turn out disastrous!

Thanks so much for joining in! Really means a lot to me! :)

    1. Thank you Lucy! I don't think it would turn out disastrous, you should give it a try and you might surprise yourself. :) No problem for joining in, it was fun!

  5. Ooh, you're a drawer! That's not all that geeky. In fact, at our school Art's one of the "cool" things, it's for everyone though (unlike photography... that's seen as geeky).
I've looked at your artwork- mostly fabulous! You're definitely using your talents (especially when you draw eyes). If you werren't just a drawer I'd think for some you were using the graphite transfer technique. As you can see my artistic badge is a bit bigger than the geek one, I did just want to thank you for sharing! It always does amaze me when others can draw such a mix of things- I really wouldn't have such a large portfolio, even if I tried (which obviously for school I do, such a time consumer!)
